 AWB National Pool Returns  (12/06/2007)

AWB has increased the forecast Estimated Pool Returns (EPRs) for the 2007/08 National Pool for APW by $15 a tonne and APDR durum by $10 a tonne to a range of $250 - $260 per tonne (FOB GST exclusive) while the EPRs for 2005/06 and 2006/07 remain unchanged.

The benchmark APW grade 2005/06 EPR remains at $192 per tonne (FOB GST exclusive) and durum grade APDR at $235.50 per tonne (FOB GST exclusive).

The 2006/07 APW EPR remains at $234.50 (FOB GST exclusive) per tonne and durum grade APDR is $258 per tonne (FOB GST exclusive).

Acting General Manager National Pool, David Johnson, said the increase in the 2007/08 forecast was a result of a significant rally in world wheat cash prices over the past two weeks.

“This rally was primarily driven by decreasing production in the former Soviet Union and delayed harvest progress in the US Hard ed Winter wheat,” Mr Johnson said.

“The latest United States of Agriculture (USDA) report indicates that world wheat production will be lower and there is a continued tightening of global stocks due to declines in Russian and Ukraine wheat production.

“The USDA reduced the 2007/08 global wheat production by 6.7 million tonnes from last month to 610.15 million tonnes.

“The recent appreciation of the Australian dollar has partially offset the rise in world wheat cash prices.

“The 2005/06 and 2006/07 National Pools remain well advanced in their price programs and thus are less susceptible to international price movements.”

The next pool update is scheduled for Monday 25th June.
