AWB’s 2009/10 estimated pool returns (EPRs) for wheat remain steady this week, with benchmark APW grade wheat estimated at $254 a tonne in the Eastern Pool and $249 a tonne in the Western Pool (FOB, excl GST).

AWB General Manager Commodities, Mitch Morison, said EPRs remain unchanged as there has been little movement in US wheat futures over the past fortnight and presently there is no new fundamental market information to support a rally.  

“The international wheat market remains under pressure due to large global supplies and many buyers are only buying for their immediate needs due to the ample world wheat supply.

“The northern spring is getting closer and the market will watch closely to see if any production issues emerge that could result in a movement in US wheat futures or international cash values.

“In addition, while the Australian dollar has traded marginally higher since the last pool update, it remains within the recent range,” Mr Morison said.
