Our values are at the heart of providing a safe and healthy workplace and operating appropriately in the communities where we work. That’s why we have agreed ways of working that guide our actions and intentions and why it’s important that everyone has a shared understanding of how we operate. These ways of working apply to everyone who works for our business.
We value and encourage people to take personal and collective accountability for creating a safe and healthy workplace. We also value looking out for each other’s safety and wellbeing through teamwork.
Nothing is so urgent that anyone’s health, safety or the environment is compromised by anything any of us do. Every employee has the accountability to stop any task or business activity at anytime if it might cause any harm to themselves, others or the
environment.
We are committed to operating in a way that causes zero harm to people and the environment. All incidents and injuries are preventable and failing to act to prevent these is bad business practice.
Our approach to safety, health, environment and community means we are committed to:
- complying with all applicable environmental and safety legislation, and other requirements and achieve industry best practice
- driving continual improvement and compliance through established measurable objectives and targets
- monitor how we work through regular audits and associated programs aimed at eliminating work related injury and illness
- identifying, assessing and managing risks to employees, contractors, business partners, communities and the environment
- promoting workplace safety by education, information and instruction
- providing safe workplaces, plant and systems of work
- achieving challenging targets that include continually reducing our environmental impact
- providing information on the responsible use of the products we sell
- working cooperatively with injured or ill employees to facilitate an early and safe return to the workplace
- assisting any employee seriously injured at work and unable to return, to achieve the greatest independence in day-today living through appropriate case management
Communities
In the broader community, we:
- support the fundamental human rights of our employees, contractors, business partners and communities in which we operate
- seek opportunities to share our success by working with communities, contributing where practical to the support of local events, creating employment opportunities and being a respected and welcomed member of the community
- respect the traditional rights of indigenous people, value cultural heritage and care for the environment.
Reporting
We regularly review and report on our progress, and ensure this policy remains relevant to the needs of our stakeholders. Our success and reputation will be measured by achieving our milestones toward our goal of zero harm and being valued by the communities in which we work.
