AWB (International) Limited has released the 2003–04 AWB National Pool Performance Report. The report can be downloaded below. A hard copy will be mailed to all 2003-04 Pool participants.
This report describes the performance and operating environment of the 2003-04 AWB National Pool. It includes extensive commentary and analysis on the AWB activities critical to generating Pool returns for growers, such as international sales and marketing, risk management and supply chain management.
The Pool Performance Report is produced after the finalisation of each seasonal Pool as part of AWB’s commitment to transparency and accountability to Pool participants.
In 2003-04, AWB successfully managed one of the largest Pool volumes ever, just under 20 million tonnes, and achieved excellent pay grade returns to growers. Key highlights of AWB’s active Pool management outlined in the report include:
- One million tonne plus sales programs to Indonesia, Egypt, China, Iraq, South Korea, and Japan
- Achieving an average US/Australian dollar exchange rate of US$0.6783, generating an additional $70 million in Pool value
- Successfully managing the transition from a small wheat crop in 2002/03 to the largest ever harvest of 25.2 million tonnes
- The implementation of a new marketing strategy ‘Shaping the Future’ to protect and grow the value of the AWB National Pool
- Out-performing the Wheat Industry Benchmark by $326.5 million
The report also includes a full financial statement audited by Ernst and Young and an independent statement on the Wheat Industry Benchmark by actuarial company Russells.
