On Wednesday 23rd April 2008 the AWB National Pool will make a $351 million FOB (GST exclusive) payment which, after allowing for site-to-sea charges, will provide a $312 million (GST exclusive) net payment to Australian wheat growers who delivered to the 2007/08 AWB National Pool.
AWB General Manager National Pool David Johnson said the 2007/08 National Pool was well supported by Australian wheat growers despite the drought and received 4.35 million tones of wheat, principally from Western Australia and South Australia, with small tonnages from Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales.
“We are continuing to target sales to key long term markets in Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sudan and the Pacific Island markets (New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia, Solomon Islands & Fiji),” Mr Johnson said.
“The National Pool has been working hard to supply these markets right through the drought period as this continues to generate the greatest benefit to growers, both in prices achieved and the longer-term value to Australia of maintaining supply relationships.
“Growers who delivered wheat through AWB’s Pool Incentive Contract will receive the additional $10 a tonne in this distribution.”
The biggest proportion of the 2007/08 shipping program will occur in the second quarter of 2008. Distributions relate to funds received, so the July distribution will reflect this increase. AWB currently expect to finalise the 2007/08 Pool in the latter half of 2008.
With this first distribution, an average of 17% of AWB Golden Rewards scales, 100% of site receival fees and 28% of freight, port and upcountry fees are to be paid.

Distribution Calculations
AWB National Pool distributions are calculated using sales receipts, value added from pool management and associated operating expenses incurred to date. The amount paid at each distribution is calculated at the base rate quality for each pay grade, and is adjusted for a proportion of AWB Golden Rewards scales and supply chain costs such as storage, handling and freight.
