The AWB today announced that it will close the 2011/12 barley pools at 5pm Friday 3rd February 2012.
AWB’s Jon White said: “We are closing our barley pools after good support from Australian farmers to protect their equity and farmers planning to utilise AWB’s barley pools should make delivery arrangements promptly by either direct delivering or taking a pool access contract.”
“Following a review of the AWB 2011/12 barley pools estimated pool returns (EPRs) all grades remain unchanged as global barley prices remain steady,” Mr White said.
“It is anticipated that Asian and Middle East buyers will enter the market in the coming months which may see good demand for Australian feed barley and ultimately support our current barley pool prices” Mr White said.
