AWB made final payments to farmers participating in its 2010/11 season wheat pools on Thursday 31 May 2012.
AWB has made adjustments to the 2010/11 pool returns in line with the reductions in wheat prices in the back end of 2011. AWB also incurred higher costs to execute the wheat marketing programme and there has been an increase in supply chain costs associated with execution difficulties caused by the 2011 floods on the East Coast. This resulted in greater dependency on more expensive road transport, and delays with the shipping program resulting in the pools storing grain for longer than anticipated.
AWB’s Richard Williams said: “While the timing of the late reductions in pool returns is disappointing overall the final AWB pool price returned a solid result exceeding our pre-harvest estimates for the majority of pool grades.”
The final pool returns for benchmark APW wheat in the eastern pool is $331.10 a tonne (FOB, excl GST). In AWB’s western pool APW is $359.50 a tonne (FOB, excl GST) while ANW1 noodle wheat is $426.10 a tonne (FOB, excl GST).
