AWB today announced that it will close its inaugural 2011/12 season WA lupin pool for farmers in the Geraldton port zone on Friday 2nd December 2012, so is urging lupin farmers to commit promptly if they want to access this pool.
AWB’s Jon White said the company has decided to close the lupin pool as we are close to our tonnage targets following strong interest from WA lupin farmers
“We are extremely pleased with the positive reaction from WA lupin farmers and by offering this new lupin marketing opportunity we have received interest from a number of international customers looking to secure supply of Australian lupins,” Mr White said.
“With this pool we are aiming to capture increased demand in domestic and international feed markets.
“Recently Australia’s lupin exports have focused on a limited number of international feed markets however we are starting to see more demand from international customers.
“We are aiming to capture some of this demand to the benefit of WA farmers who deliver to this pool,” Mr White said.
The 2011/2012 AWB WA Lupin Pool estimated pool return has been reduced by $5 a tonne due to continue pressure on feed grains and the protein complex. The estimated pool return is currently $240 (FOB, excl GST) delivered Geraldton port zone.
WA farmers wishing to learn more about the WA lupin pool should contact their local WA AWB representative or ring the Grower Services Centre on 1800 4GRAIN (1800 447 246).
