AWB’s $15 a tonne premium early commitment contracts for AWB’s 2009/10 season wheat pools opened on Monday, 17 August.
The offer closes on 4 September, although may close earlier if AWB reaches its contract tonnage limits.
“We’ve said the offer will last up to three weeks, but I’d encourage anyone who is interested to move promptly and talk to their local AWB grain marketer, or call the AWB hotline,” said AWB’s Australian Commodity Management spokesman, Stuart Richardson.
Mr Richardson explained that AWB was offering specific contracts for noodle and durum wheat varieties,
as well as a multigrade contract for milling and feed wheats, however the contracts could close independently if limits were reached.
“As expected, we have received a lot of inquiry from growers looking to secure the $15 premium as part of their marketing program.
“Given the current wheat market, the opportunity to lock in any premium is understandably attractive.
“We are offering another contract from 14 September with a $10 a tonne premium, which gives growers a later delivery window and wider delivery tolerances.
“Our feedback from growers has been that they appreciate the opportunity to gain a benefit from early commitment to our pools and they understand that the tonnage certainty helps our marketing program, so it’s a win-win situation,” Mr Richardson said.
AWB encourages growers to check the AWB website and familiarise themselves with the terms and conditions for its 2009/10 season wheat pools, before entering into wheat supply contracts.
