AWB has increased the estimated pool return (EPR) for 2009/10 season noodle wheat in its western pool by $5 a tonne, with the EPR for noodle wheat ANW1 now at $245 a tonne (FOB, excl GST).
Estimates for all other grades in AWB’s 2009/10 western and eastern pools are holding steady, with the EPR for benchmark grade APW wheat at $255 a tonne in the western pool and $263 a tonne in the eastern pool (FOB, excl GST).
AWB General Manager Commodities, Mitch Morison, said that the improvement in the noodle wheat estimate was due to a combination of AWB’s active pool management and slightly lower forecasts of noodle wheat production.
“AWB’s wheat pools are attracting a lot of grower interest, with significant tonnage now contracted through our early commitment premium program.
“Noodle wheat is a very specific grain type, so the EPR lift on this wheat is a great example of the benefit this program generates.
“Sales, commodity hedging and currency management activities are occurring right across our pools, thanks to growers pursuing the premium opportunities our contracts have offered in recent weeks.
“We are fully accredited as a wheat exporter, which is helping to generate grower confidence.
“Our $10 a tonne early commitment premium contract is still available for growers to access if they wish, although the contracts are expected to close early and I’d encourage anyone looking to secure this premium offer to call AWB without delay,” Mr Morison said.
Estimated returns for AWB’s 2008/09 wheat pools are holding steady, with the EPR for APW on $325 a tonne in the Western Pool and $330 a tonne in the Eastern Pool (FOB, excl GST).
