AWB’s 2008/09 wheat pool estimated returns remain unchanged after today’s review of prices, at $339 a tonne in the Western Pool and $344 a tonne in the Eastern Pool (FOB, excl GST).

AWB General Manager Australian Commodities Stuart Richardson said that concern over the state of Hard Red Winter Wheat crops in the United States, which are experiencing dry conditions, was being offset by the slow pace of US export sales and a positive outlook for crops in Europe.

“Demand for Australian wheat continues to remain strong,” Mr Richardson said.

“While the market remains relatively stable at present, the run into the northern spring normally stimulates volatility in the market, and growers who have delivered to AWB’s Pools will be secure in the knowledge that AWB has significant experience in managing that volatility to the benefit of pool participants,” Mr Richardson said.

AWB’s pools remain open for deliveries. Growers can deliver their warehoused or stored wheat to an AWB Wheat Pool by contacting their local Grain Marketer or the AWB Grower Service Centre.
