AWB will make its second distribution of $205 million FOB (excl GST) to wheat growers participating in its 2008/09 season wheat pools on Wednesday, 8th July. After deduction of supply chain costs, the net payment to growers will be $176 million (excl GST).

Stuart Richardson of AWB Australian Commodity Management said that the AWB’s sales and marketing program continues to be on track, with wheat being placed to both export and domestic customers.

“The 2008/09 Pool continues to target sales to key long term markets in Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sudan, Egypt, Yemen and the Pacific Island markets (New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia, Solomon Islands & Fiji),” Mr Richardson said.

“This second distribution represents around 24% of estimated pool equity, with some grades a little higher and others lower.

“Combined with the first payment in April we have paid out approximately 46% of the estimated pool equity or $335 million (excl GST) directly to growers who participated in the AWB wheat pools,” Mr Richardson said.

On the 3rd of July AWB Harvest Finance also made the first payment to growers who selected the AWB Deferred Payment product.  This payment represents 90% of the prevailing EPR less 90% of estimated site-to-sea and funding costs.  

Estimated returns for AWB’s 2008/09 wheat pools are holding steady, with the EPR for APW at $327 a tonne in the Western Pool and $332 a tonne in the Eastern Pool (FOB, excl GST).
