AWB’s 2009/10 estimated pool returns (EPRs) for wheat have risen $1-2 a tonne for most grades, with AUH rising $8 a tonne and durum steady.
Benchmark APW grade wheat has risen $2 to a new EPR of $263 a tonne in the Eastern Pool and by $1 to $259 a tonne in the Western Pool (FOB, excl GST).
AWB General Manager Commodities, Mitch Morison, said that after recent rises the wheat market had eased slightly, although this had been offset by a helpful drop in the Australian dollar.
“The softer Australian currency is of great benefit to prices for farmers, with the effect clear as we have been able to increase our 2009/10 pool estimates slightly,” Mr Morison said.
Estimated returns for AWB’s 2008/09 wheat pools remain unchanged, with APW wheat at $325 a tonne in the Western Pool and $330 a tonne in the Eastern Pool (FOB, excl GST).
