(17/12/2009) |
AWB has given notice that it intends to close its 2009/10 eastern durum wheat pool on Wednesday, December 30 in New South Wales and Friday January 8 in South Australia and Victoria. Growers who can not meet that delivery date have the option of contracting into the pool before the relevant closure date, which will enable delivery to extend until the end of February 2010.
“AWB’s durum marketing manager is currently in Italy meeting with key durum buyers who have a desire to incorporate Australian durum in their grist,” said AWB General Manager Commodities, Mitch Morison.
“A key selling feature is that Australia’s high quality durum has unique characteristics.
“Closing the pool enables us to move forward with marketing this specialist grain into quality markets with European Union chemical MRL (maximum residue limit) sensitivities.
“Early delivery and subsequent testing will help to ensure all quality requirements are managed and maintained; that is why we are giving so much notice and explaining our program, to ensure the growers we are working with will have the maximum marketing opportunity,” Mr Morison said.
