(11/12/2009) |
AWB has increased its estimated pool returns (EPRs) for malting barley by $16 a tonne for all grades, with feed barley up by $1/t, taking the EPR for Baudin/Gairdner malt to $267 a tonne and Feed 1 barley to $187 a tonne (FOB, excl GST).
AWB General Manager Commodities Mitch Morison said prices for malting barley were continuing to rise, with AWB’s barley pool well placed to capture the upside for benefit of pool participants.
“Malt barley values continue to firm due to the poor seasonal finish and ongoing rain events during harvest causing quality concerns,” Mr Morison said.
“Our malt EPRs have risen substantially over the past two weeks, reflecting the interest from our customers in us sourcing barley for them.
“Feed barley values are supported by export demand, with the slightly weaker Australian dollar also assisting export values at present,” Mr Morison said.
AWB’s barley pool is accepting accept F1 & F2 barley in WA & SA, as well as Baudin, Gairdner, Buloke and Vlamingh malt varieties in WA.
New EPRs: F1 $187/t, F2 $177/t, BA1 $267/t, GA1 $267/t, BU1 $257/t, VL1 $257/t (EPRs are FOB, excl GST).
