AWB Harvest Finance will next week top up the bank accounts of wheat growers who delivered their wheat to AWB’s Wheat Pools this harvest.
The top-up payments for Harvest Finance customers will range from $30-$50 per tonne and will provide much needed cashflow for farmers who are finishing harvest and making preparations for next season’s crop.
AWB General Manager Australian Commodities Stuart Richardson said the payments were based on the strong pricing and sales performance of the 2008/09 AWB Eastern and Western Pools.
“With our program of domestic and export sales well underway we are in a good position to make these additional payments to growers and continue providing them with secure, competitive Harvest Finance payments,” Mr Richardson said.
Mr Richardson noted that AWB’s Pools could close at any time, and recommended that growers who wanted access to AWB’s Pools either deliver as soon as possible or guarantee their place by contracting into an AWB Pool.
