AWB’s solid customer relationships in key markets have helped strengthen AWB’s National Pool estimates for the niche grades of durum, noodle and soft wheats.
AWB (International) General Manager Peter Geary said AWB’s relationships with key customers such as Italy, a buyer of Australian durum wheat, and South Korea, a major customer for soft and noodle wheats, were behind today’s increase in prices for those grades.
“While the international futures market and the movements in the Australian dollar impact on prices, it is also our international customer relationships, translating into the physical sales of wheat, that are playing a big part in the increased pool estimates that we are forecasting for the 2000/2001 crop,” said Mr Geary.
The new crop noodle pool has been increased by $11 a tonne to $264 a tonne GST inclusive. Soft and Durum estimates have increased by $5.50 a tonne GST inclusive.
Mr Geary said all other new crop estimates, and 1999/2000 (old crop) estimates remained steady.
Updated Golden Rewards matrices reflecting the increased pool returns will be available from the Grower Service Centre on 1800 054 433 or from the AWB website at www.awb.com.au over the next few days.
The next pool update will be released on Monday, 6th November 2000.
