AWB Limited’s National Pool return estimates were unchanged after today’s review of prices.
AWB (International) Limited General Manager Sarah Scales said while there had been volatility in the market in the last fortnight international cash and futures prices and exchange rates had not significantly changed.
"Wheat markets are still trading around weather events in key grain producing nations such as the US, Canada, China and Australia,” Ms Scales said.
“Harvesting of the US winter wheat crop has started, but rain has delayed progress and at this early stage there has not been any production news which could dramatically change the market outlook.
“Rain in the drier parts of Western Canada will allow crops there to germinate but those areas still need ongoing rain to ensure production potential is realized.”
Ms Scales said rain in the South East of Australia last week had given many growers their first decent rain for the season and would see significant progress in the planting of Australia’s wheat crop.
“The rain was timely but we are some farmers in parts of Western Australia, NSW and Queensland still need rain to get the rest of their crops in the ground.
