AWB Limited’s Australia-wide Grower Services network will be managed from Western Australia from April when the division’s General Manager Lisa Wilson re-locates to Perth.
AWB Chief Executive Andrew Lindberg said the decision reflected the importance of the WA grains industry to both AWB and Australia’s wheat exports.
“Western Australia is the engine room of Australia’s wheat industry. WA grain farmers contribute on average close to 45 per cent of Australia’s wheat exports and that contribution is recognised by AWB Limited,” Mr Lindberg said.
“By basing our most senior Grower Services staff in WA we will be better able to work with WA farmers and deliver quality products and services to them which will in turn help them continue to deliver a quality, made to order grain product to our offshore customers.”
Since the beginning of last year Lisa Wilson has headed AWB’s National Grower Services division. In a ten year career with AWB Ms Wilson has had extensive management and commercial experience in AWB’s Grower Services, Trading and Public Affairs divisions.
AWB’s Western Region Manager Peter Hobbs will continue in his position based at Geraldton.
Mr Lindberg said the move was consistent with AWB’s strategy of maintaining strong links between senior management and growers.
“We have senior people in Gunnedah, Horsham and Geraldton, as well as our 17 other Area Offices in regional Australia. It is through being on the ground, where our grower customers are, that we can build strong relationships with farmers and rural communities which support AWB Limited,” Mr Lindberg said.
Lisa Wilson will be available for interviews on Monday at the WA Farmers Federation conference.
