AWB today announced that the estimated pool return for 2001/02 has increased by $5 per metric tonne and the 2000/01 pool returns remain unchanged.
The outlook for the 2001/02 APW announced recently is up $5 to $232.50 - $242.50 including GST (approximately $211.36 – 220.45 GST exclusive).
AWB (International) Limited General Manager Peter Geary said wheat prices had been extremely volatile in the past fortnight.
“US futures prices have seen some dramatic swings as the market tries to come to terms with uncertainties surrounding new crop production in the northern hemisphere and the impact of foot and mouth disease in European exports,” Geary said.
Longer term however, AWB’s foreign exchange strategies have managed the Australian dollar has improved the outlook for new season crop prices.
The 2000/2001 National pools remain unchanged, with the benchmark APW grade FOB price at $231 per tonne GST inclusive ($210 GST exclusive).
All estimates for the 1999/2000 pools remain unchanged.
