AWB (International) Limited today opened a Feed 2 wheat segregation for wheat with some mouldy grain in South Australia.
AWB (International) Limited General Manager, Ms Sarah Scales, said deliveries to the Feed 2 segregation would be discounted by $10 a tonne from the standard Feed grade, with an estimated pool return of $172 per tonne (FOB, GST exclusive).
“As a result of rain and on going cool damp conditions, mouldy grain has been detected in some areas and we saw the need to open this segregation so growers could have the option of delivering into National Pool,” said Ms Scales.
Grain should be delivered as per Feed receival specifications except this segregation will allow for a maximum of 15 mouldy grain seeds per half litre.
“This segregation will present another marketing challenge to AWB (International) Limited, however, last year we were really were under pressure to find markets for off grade wheat and we had success,” said Ms Scales.
