| ||Revised Wheat Production Outlook for 2002-03|| ||
Further to the outlook announcement on 22 August 2002, AWB has reduced its estimate of domestic wheat production to a range of 14 – 16 million tonnes.
Further below average rainfall across the majority of the growing region, over the past month has resulted in the need to reduce the estimate from the previously quoted 15.5 – 17.5 million tonnes.
The climatic conditions experienced over the remained of September and early October will be critical to the overall outcome of the crop. This is the period when the wheat plant requires greater supplies of moisture as it moves towards flowering.
Sporadic rainfall over the past week, and potential fronts moving across the country in the next week will be closely monitored.
