The next national tender for access to wheat from AWB National Pools will be held on Wednesday 28th August 2002.
The sale by tender offers wheat held in AWB National Pools to domestic customers with the aim of ensuring that all domestic customers have equivalent access to wheat stocks.
The tender is conducted by KPMG and for further details contact AWB’s Kate Fletcher on 03 9209 2080
As the manager of the Single Desk marketing system, AWB National Pool is tailoring its current wheat export program in order to preserve vital grain stocks in drought affected regions of NSW.
During the past three months, where appropriate, export orders for international customers had been redirected from NSW and Queensland to other states, in an effort to retain stocks of wheat for domestic milling demand and as a potential source of feed for drought stricken farmers.
AWB is conscious of the dry season that some farmers in New South Wales and Queensland are facing, and the potential impact this is likely to have on grain stocks going forward.
In response, and as part of our actively managed export program, we have been redirecting ships from NSW to preserve those stocks, and reallocating wheat for domestic use.
