WA noodle wheat growers will have a unique opportunity to discuss the issues facing their industry, with the first AWB Noodle Day in Dalwallinu early next month.
AWB National Pool General Manager Sarah Scales, who will attend the day, said the event will cover a range of noodle related issues, including marketing, quality, varietal and pricing issues.
"The noodle industry in WA remains a shining example of a targeted export industry, where we exclusively market a particular product that is desired by our customers, and in doing so, gain a premium for it," Ms Scales said.
"But in an increasingly competitive international market we cannot afford to be complacent, and this day is about continuing the progression of the noodle industry to ensure we remain market leaders," she said.
At the Noodle Day will be key AWB staff, including representatives from the AWB National Pool and International Marketing, as well as quality and milling specialists.
"Never before has there been an event that is so targeted at noodle growers, with a range of respective specialists on hand to answer questions from production issues, to marketing and end use requirements," Ms Scales said.
"AWB invites growers and noodle industry participants to secure a place at the Noodle Day, and have their questions answered first hand," said Ms Scales.
Ms Scales said there were a number of specific issues that would be addressed on the day, including how AWB, and the industry, would handle the steadily increasing noodle production.
"An issue for the industry into the future will be how we manage and balance the needs of our customers, requirements of the market and the commercial needs of growers," Ms Scales said.
Other issues to be covered include:
- Noodle wheat quality and varieties
- Protein windows and requirements
- Australian noodle markets
- International competitors
- Price directions
The AWB Noodle Day will be held on Monday September 9th, at the Dalwallinu Recreation Centre, Myres Rd, from 9.30am - 4pm.
