AWB Limited’s Chief Executive Andrew Lindberg today announced the company had exercised its option agreement over a parcel of coastal land at Myponie Point in South Australia.
“AWB purchased the parcel of land at Myponie Point to give the company more time to adequately assess its potential as a key site for a new deep-water port and grain terminal for South Australian grain growers,” said Mr Lindberg.
“The process of determining the feasibility of a site and a supporting business case requires time and careful study and AWB can make no commitment at this stage that the proposal will advance past a concept stage.
“AWB is committed to providing SA growers with a lower cost supply chain.
“The limitations imposed in some locations by lack of deep water ports and consequent customer and market compromises means that AWB will be continuing to look at opportunities for investments in the supply chain in SA,” said Mr Lindberg.
AWB will not provide further comment until the completion of feasibility study, which could be some months away.
