| ||Annuello upgraded in Southern NSW for 2003/04|| ||
AWB Limited has announced that the wheat variety Annuello will be accepted as Australian Hard in Southern New South Wales for next harvest - 2003/04.
Annuello was initially released by the Department of Primary Industries, Victoria in 2001, and has recently been fully evaluated for quality when grown in Southern New South Wales.
Agrifood Technology, NSW Agriculture and domestic millers have tested quality samples with the results demonstrating that Annuello warrants upgrading from its current classification of Australian Premium White (APW). The change has been supported by the domestic flour milling industry.
Annuello has good grain size and milling performance at Australian Hard protein levels. Combined with strong dough characteristics, the variety produces flours for making the type of bread and yellow alkaline noodles that international customers have come to expect from this class of wheat.
