AWB GrainFlow will open the doors to its new Jondaryan grain centre on Wednesday, October 22, and to celebrate the occasion, is inviting local growers, grains industry members, residents and media to attend the official opening.
AWB Managing Director Andrew Lindberg said the event would provide a first hand look at the lay out and operation of AWB GrainFlow’s new, state-of-the-art receival facilities, before they open for business at harvest.
“Once up and running the centre will offer growers a number of benefits, with fast turnaround times for grain deliveries, and rapid rail outloading facilities, which will reduce the costs in getting grain from paddock to port,” Mr Lindberg said.
“The AWB GrainFlow site has been designed to ensure growers will receive substantial benefits from delivering to the grain centre, and we are expecting to offer savings of at least $2 - $3 per tonne on the combined up country storage and handling fee and the rail deduction to port,” Mr Lindberg said.
AWB GrainFlow Jondaryan centre will have a total site storage capacity of about 130,000 tonnes and be able to receive 8,000 tonnes of grain daily. Its fast out loading ability, with two 1350 tonne over-rail bins, will be capable of loading a 2,300 tonne train in less than 2.5 hours.
The site also includes a double-sided sampling platform, integrated receival data capture, weighbridge capacity of 160 tonnes, and advanced elevator and conveyor systems.
To improve efficiency for growers even further, the centre will operate on extended hours during the peak harvest period, open from 7am to 11pm, seven days a week.
