AWB National Pool has held the majority of 2004/05 Estimated Pool Returns (EPR) steady, despite a strengthening AUD/USD exchange rate placing pressure on Australian dollar returns.
In today’s Pool Update, AWB National Pool increased the 2004/05 EPR for AGP and AUW by $3 per tonne. For its main grades, the EPRs remain unchanged, with APW at $200/t and APH at $221/t.
AWB National Pool also made a number of changes to the Golden Rewards protein scales for the 2004/05 Pool.
There has been no change to EPRs for the 2003/04 Pool.
General Manager AWB International, Sarah Scales, said the weakening trend in the US currency had been an important factor for Australian dollar wheat values over the past two weeks.
In the past two months, the AUD/USD exchange rate had risen from below US$0.69 to above US$0.76 today.
“Our hedging programs have successfully minimised the impact of this strengthening currency on EPR’s,” Ms Scales said.
From this week, AWB will revert to weekly updates during the harvest period. The next Pool Update will be Monday 15th November 2004.
