AWB Limited Chairman Brendan Stewart today announced the re-election of three directors to the Board of AWB Limited, and the reappointment of one director to the Board of AWB (International) Limited at the Company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The election results were as follows:
- Mr Brendan Stewart was re-elected as an AWB Limited A class director by QLD/NT A class shareholders.
- Mr Xavier Martin was re-elected as an AWB Limited A class director by NSW/ACT A class shareholders.
- Mr Brendan Fitzgerald was re-elected as an AWB Limited A class director by SA A class shareholders.
- Mr Wayne Gibson was re-elected as an AWB (International) Limited A class director by WA A class shareholders.
AWB Chairman Brendan Stewart thanked all the candidates who nominated for the Board, and was confident that the directors would serve their term on the Board in the best interests of Australian farmers and shareholders.
Mr Stewart also reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to restoring the company’s reputation which has been damaged as a result of its participation in the oil for food program.
“It has been a difficult time for the company. However, shareholders need to understand that despite the negative publicity, the AWB Limited business is fundamentally strong and continues to perform well,” Mr Stewart said.
“The Board is absolutely committed to managing change and restoring AWB’s reputation and will take whatever action in necessary to restore the company’s good name,” he said.
