AWB National Pool remains unchanged  ( 20/11/2006)

AWB has made no changes to the 2005/06 and 2006/07 National Pool Estimated Pool Returns (EPR) this week, however made some positive changes to Golden Rewards for the 2006/07 pool participants.

For the 2006/07 National Pool, benchmark APW remains at $248/t (FOB, GST exclusive), while APH is $263.50/t. Durum grades (APDR and AGDR) remain at $261/t and $225/t respectively.

Acting General Manager National Pool David Johnson said all EPRs remain stable this week due to a stable international wheat market.

“The domestic wheat price and the National Pool EPRs have narrowed considerably over the past few weeks and this is a positive sign for growers participating in 2006/07 National Pool,” Mr Johnston said.

AWB Limited announced the Nominated Estimated Pool Returns for the 2006/07 AWB Harvest Finance options last week which gives pool participants an underwriting option for the current pool equities.

“This is a sign of confidence from AWB Harvest Finance in the National Pool and the equities in the marketplace,” said Mr Johnson.

As previously stated the EPRs are reflected of the National Pool’s commodity and foreign exchange hedging positions.

“The 2006/07 pool remains open to improvement with market rallies, and likewise decline if the market falls. This is no different from the normal position of a pool at this stage and the 2006/07 National Pool will move in line with international wheat prices until a greater level of pricing occurs,” Mr Johnson said.

The National Pool has made a number of positive changes to protein levels under the Golden Rewards quality program by reducing the discount paid to growers for protein levels below 10%.  While APW base rate remains at $248/t, when a grower takes into account the average returns achieved under Golden Rewards, AWB’s quality based payment system, the estimated return is approximately $258/t.

The next Pool Update will be Monday 27th November 2006.
