AWB International has upgraded the classification of four wheat varieties following the evaluation of quality data by the AWB International Variety Classification Panel at their most recent meeting.
In Western Australia, LongReach Guardian has been upgraded to Australian Standard White (ASW), whilst Espada and Correll were both upgraded to Australian Hard (AH) in southern New South Wales.
LongReach Guardian is commercialised by AWB Seeds, whilst Espada and Correll are both commercialised by AGT Seeds.
Barham which was developed by Australian Grain Technologies has an Australian Soft (ASF) classification for South Australia and is commercialised by ABB Seeds.
The wheat classification process categorises wheat varieties into commercial types or styles of wheat that are recognisable for its end use capabilities. This system underpins the segregation of wheat and delivers the consistent processing performance expected by end-users, which ultimately translates into premiums for growers.
