AWB International has announced that the classification of four wheat varieties has been upgraded following the evaluation of quality data by the AWB International Variety Classification Panel at their most recent meeting.
In Northern New South Wales, EGA Burke has been upgraded to Australian Prime Hard (APH), whilst Longreach Hornet and LongReach Dakota were both upgraded to Australian Hard (AH) in Queensland.
LongReach Dakota and EGA Burke are commercialised by Pacific Seeds and LongReach Hornet is commercialised by Graintrust.
Espada which was developed by Australian Grain Technologies has an Australian Premium White (APW) classification for Victoria and is commercialised by AGT Seeds.
The wheat classification process categorises wheat varieties into commercial types or styles of wheat that are recognisable for their end use capabilities. This system underpins the segregation of wheat and delivers the consistent processing performance expected by endusers, which ultimately translates into premiums for growers.
