AWB GrainFlow customers to access Clear Grain Exchange in new partnership
AWB’s storage and handling network GrainFlow today announced an innovative partnership with Clear Grain Exchange to provide growers with full online grain marketplace access this harvest.
The partnership, which begins immediately, allows growers using any of GrainFlow’s 22 sites across QLD, NSW, VIC and SA, access to the largest, most secure, and independent online grain platform in Australia.
AWB Head of Customers Ben Fargher said the benefits to GrainFlow customers included a more liquid marketplace for grain thanks to an increased number of buyers in a safe and secure online trading environment with no counterparty risk and faster 7-business day payment terms.
“This latest innovation delivers our grower customers access to more markets to sell their grain. Growers have more flexibility when selling their commodities, with the ability to offer grain if you are not happy with the price on the day, making GrainFlow sites the number one option for customers looking to store their grain this harvest,” Mr Fargher said.
The deal is the first for the Clear Grain Exchange since it ended its exclusive arrangement in the eastern states of Australia with GrainCorp last month.
Clear Grain Exchange General Manager Nathan Cattle said the GrainFlow partnership would allow the marketplace to reach even more growers, and ultimately deliver improved selling opportunities.
“We are excited by the opportunity this partnership presents for growers delivering to GrainFlow sites. Enabling growers to offer their grain at their price in an open and independent marketplace to all buyers with a secure settlement process, helps drive more buyer competition for growers’ grain,” Mr Cattle said.
“The more competition for growers’ product at the farm-gate, the better for growers, that’s the benefit a transparent marketplace offers, and importantly growers don’t lose title of their grain until they are paid for trades via Clear Grain Exchange”.
The partnership is the latest in a series of innovations from GrainFlow for the 16/17 harvest. Others include a new mobile-responsive website, making it quicker and easier to transact online via a device, complementing the ability for growers to sell any warehouse tickets to a buyer’s cash price regardless of the date of delivery. In addition mobile receival equipment has been purchased to handle required segregations and speed up turnaround times, and bunker upgrades are occurring at a number of sites.
