Estimated Pool Returns (EPRs) for all wheat grades in the AWB Number 1 and Number 2 2007/08 National Pools, except feed and durum grades, have been reduced by $8-$12 a tonne, following the fortnightly review of National Pool returns.
The 2007/08 EPR for benchmark APW grade for the AWB Number 1 National Pool has been reduced by $8 a tonne and is now at $418/t (FOB GST exclusive) and for the Number 2 National Pool APW has been reduced by $12 a tonne and is now $399/t (FOB GST exclusive).
AWB General Manager National Pool, David Johnson, said international wheat cash values have dropped by A$50 a tonne in the past fortnight as customers continue to shy away from the current high wheat export price.
“Many customers continue to run down stocks, while traders and other exporters continue to discount their current wheat export price to reduce carryover prior to the Northern Hemisphere harvest in June,” Mr Johnson said.
“World consumers are becoming more comfortable with 2008/09 world wheat production and the risk premium is eroding rapidly out of the world wheat cash price.”
