The AWB National Pool will this week make a final payment of $124 million (GST exclusive) payment to Australian wheat growers who delivered to the 2006/07 AWB National Pool.
General Manager National Pool David Johnson said the final payment would bring the total value for growers who delivered to the 2006/07 National Pool to $810 million (FOB GST exclusive).
The final Pool Return for all grades varies $2.79/t to $8.56/t higher than previously indicated, with the benchmark grade APW achieving $246.09/tonne (FOB GST exclusive).
“The 2006/07 National Pool received just 3.17 million tonnes of wheat, after drought drastically reduced 2006 season production,” Mr Johnson said.
“We targeted this small quantity selectively to key markets in Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sudan and the Pacific Island markets of New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia, Solomon Islands & Fiji.
“In doing so AWB sought to maximise benefit to growers, both in prices achieved and the longer-term value to Australia of maintaining supply relationships.
“Our customers were well aware of the supply shortage and appreciated the efforts to meet their needs, with these relationships underpinning the prices that growers are seeing in the following (2007/08) Pool, during a period of extreme market volatility,” Mr Johnson said.

2006/07 AWB National Pool – Fifth & Final Distribution
Distribution Calculations
AWB National Pool distributions are calculated using sales receipts, added value from pool management and associated operating expenses incurred to date. The amount paid at each distribution is calculated at the base rate quality for each pay grade, and is adjusted for a proportion of AWB Golden Rewards scales and supply chain costs such as storage, handling and freight.
