AWB announced that it will close its 2007/08 Number 2 National Pool in all port zones at 5pm (EST) today to protect the financial equity of growers that have delivered to the Pool.
AWB General Manager National Pool, David Johnson, said the 2007/08 National Pool would open a Number 3 National Pool for any further wheat deliveries.
“The 2007/08 National Pool sales and marketing program is progressing well and we need to ensure we protect the financial equity of growers who have delivered to the pools as US wheat futures hit a five month low overnight,” Mr Johnson said.
“The recent decline in market prices reflects the improving outlook for wheat crops around the world.
“The Number 3 pool is reflective of Northern hemisphere new crop prices."
The 2007/08 EPR for benchmark APW grade for the Number 3 National Pool is $350/t (FOB GST exclusive).
The 2007/08 EPR for benchmark APW grade for the AWB Number 1 National Pool is $418/t (FOB GST exclusive) and for the Number 2 National Pool APW is $399/t (FOB GST exclusive).
The next pool update is scheduled for Monday 12th May 2008.
