AWB has revised the estimated pool returns for its 2008/09 season wheat pools, increasing most grades by $3 a tonne and announcing that the pools will make final payments to growers in March 2010, a month ahead of schedule.
AWB General Manager Commodities Mitch Morison said the benefits of AWB’s solid marketing and shipping program for 2008/09 season wheat were showing through with both the improvement in equities and early finalisation.
“We are very conscious of growers’ needs for cash flow as they enter the next season and certainty around the timing of that cash flow, so to bring forward our pool finalisation will provide significant benefit for pool participants,” Mr Morison said.
“The majority of remaining equity for these pools will be paid on schedule in our January distribution, after which our external auditors will undertake a review of pool accounts, before final distribution in March.
“Our 2008/09 season wheat pools received 2.7 million tonnes, mainly from growers in Western Australia and South Australia, who have been looking to us to generate maximum value for them; that is the service we provide and are strongly committed to doing so.”
Estimated returns for AWB’s 2008/09 wheat pools for benchmark grade APW are now $328 a tonne in the Western Pool and $333 a tonne in the Eastern Pool (FOB, excl GST).
