AWB accepts the Federal Government’s decision to maintain the National Pool for the 2007/08 wheat harvest, and introduce new marketing arrangements in 2008/09, AWB Chairman, Brendan Stewart said today.
Mr Stewart said that the Federal Government’s decision provides greater certainty for Australian wheat growers and will enable them to plan with confidence for the 2007/08 wheat crop.
“AWB will continue to maximise financial returns to growers through the National Pool for the 2007/08 harvest and maintain our commitment to service key export markets,” Mr Stewart said.
“AWB will look to finalise the 2005/06 and 2006/07 National Pools in the best interests of pool participants and market the 2007/08 wheat crop under the new arrangements announced by the Federal Government.
“AWB will confirm arrangements for the 2007/08 harvest once relevant legislation has passed through Parliament.”
Mr Stewart said the AWB Board will also review its de-merger proposal in light of the Federal Government’s decision on future wheat export marketing arrangements.
“AWB will make a public statement about its de-merger proposal when details about the new wheat export marketing arrangements for 2008/09 are available,” Mr Stewart said.
