A CLEAR Way Forward
With production in northern parts of the country falling short of domestic demand, the pull of grain from the south is strong. In particular, those with trains or processing facilities to run are looking to secure grain in key rail sites. With that, we have seen a number of buyers enter the market that are perhaps not traditional buyers of grain in Victoria.
AWB Territory Manager for the Wimmera, Bridie George says “We get a lot of enquiry from growers about selling to buyers that they may not be familiar with. Having the CLEAR settled functionality on the cash boards provides them with absolute confidence that they will be paid for their grain”.
On the back of industry demand for payment security, GrainFlow and Clear Grain Exchange are now providing a secure settlement service for cash prices published at GrainFlow sites. Any grain sales made to a cash price seen at with ‘CLEAR Settle’ next to it will be settled by CGX’s secure settlement facility so growers won’t lose title of their grain until paid. The service comes at no cost to the seller.
