AWB 2011/12 wheat pools to close in SA Thevenard & Queensland port zones  ( 16/01/2012)

AWB will close its 2011/12 season wheat pools in all Queensland port zones – Gladstone, McKay and Brisbane – and the South Australian port zone Thevenard at 5pm Friday 20 January 2012.

The AWB 2011/12 wheat pools remains open in Western Australia, South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria however with harvest close to completion we will gradually start closing other ports zones across the wheat belt in the coming weeks. Some port zones may close without notice.

AWB’s Jon White said farmers planning to utilise AWB’s pools should make delivery arrangements promptly by either direct delivering or taking a pool access contract.

“We are closing these pools to allow us to finalise our marketing and logistics programs for these port zones,” Mr White said.

“Our wheat pool for the recent Australian harvest is about to close in the SA port of Thevenard and all Queensland port zones, so I’d encourage any farmer who wants to know more about AWB’s pools and marketing program to contact their local AWB farm marketer without delay, or call the AWB Grower Services Centre,” Mr White said.

Following a review of the AWB 2011/12 wheat pools estimated pool returns (EPRs) all grades remain unchanged except ASW which has increased $2 - $6 a tonne.

AWB’s 2011/12 EPRs for APW wheat remains $275 a tonne and ANW noodle wheat is $290 a tonne in the WA Pool, APW is $264 a tonne in the SA Pool and $267 a tonne in the Eastern Pool (FOB, excl GST).

“Australian wheat values remain relatively firm despite wheat futures falling significantly since the bearish US Department of Agriculture monthly crop report last week,” Mr White said.

“We have increased the EPRs for ASW in all pools as current values remain very well supported due to excellent export demand and firming international values for lower protein wheat,” Mr White said.

Farmers should contact our grain marketers or call AWB’s farmers services centre on 1800 4GRAIN (1800 447 246) regarding their grain marketing.
