Silo price for weather damaged wheat   ( 29/11/2000)

Growers in northern and central New South Wales now have the opportunity to deliver weather-affected wheat to AWB’s Fed3 cash bid at silo, available from Thursday morning 30th November.

This segregation will be available at over 30 receival sites across northern and central New South Wales, at $88 a tonne GST inclusive delivered to the local silo.

AWB Limited Northern Region Manager Peter Burke said many wheat crops in the area had been severely damaged by the recent floods and AWB was looking at all avenues to assist growers to receive an income this harvest.

“Much of the crop has been damaged, however, by opening this segregation, growers will have a financial incentive to harvest what crop they can. It may be that some loads make a higher grade.

“While we do not have established markets for this grain, we will adapt our marketing campaign so growers in New South Wales can receive the best possible returns.

“We understand the situation facing growers in NSW this season and are happy to have this segregation available with a cash bid as of tomorrow morning,” said Mr Burke.

To be delivered to the Fed3 segregation, the wheat must achieve a 54 kilogram per hectolitre test weight, have a maximum of 25 per cent screenings and a maximum of 100 per cent fungal staining. All other specifications are the same as AWB’s Fed2 grade.

For further information growers should contact their local AWB area office or the AWB Grower Services Centre on 1800 054 433.
