AWB Limited’s Managing Director, Andrew Lindberg, today announced the appointment of Marcus Kennedy to the new position of Group General Manager, Financial Services.
Mr Lindberg said Mr Kennedy had the experience and enthusiasm to drive the product strategy and build upon AWB’s success in providing valuable financial products to Australian wheat growers.
"His experience in the financial sector and his proven performance in developing new financial service opportunities will be invaluable to AWB," Mr Lindberg said.
"Mr Kennedy will also be responsible for product development which AWB regards as very important to meet the business needs of Australian wheat growers," said Mr Lindberg.
"AWB is constantly researching and developing new financial products that meet the vast majority of growers’ financial requirements and Mr Kennedy will ensure AWB has an edge on its competitors," said Mr Lindberg.
Mr Kennedy has extensive experience in both retail and wholesale financial services, and across many management functions. He has worked in a number of senior roles during the past eight years with Westpac, most recently as Head of Retail Investment, prior to which he worked in Europe as a consultant and in finance with Westpac and Wardley Ltd, and as a geophysicist and financial analyst with Exxon Corporation.
Mr Kennedy holds a Bachelor of Science (applied mathematics and chemistry), a Master of Science (geophysics), a Postgraduate Diploma (finance and securities) and a MBA from the London Business School. He is a member of the London Business School Alumni Board of Directors and President of the Australasian-based alumni.
"We’re looking forward to Mr Kennedy building upon the close commercial relationships AWB has with Australian wheat growers and ensuring AWB continues to provide financial products which are needed by growers," said Mr Lindberg.
Mr Kennedy commenced his role today.
