AWB’s guaranteed access dates for wheat deliveries to the 2002/03 AWB National Pool have now expired, which means the pool may now be closed to protect value and safeguard participants.
Yesterday marked the end of the guaranteed access period for deliveries in the shipping zones of Portland in Victoria, and Albany and Esperance in WA. The guaranteed access dates have already expired for other zones across Australia.
With harvest now complete, the guaranteed access dates have allowed sufficient time for growers to deliver to the pool, and AWB may now close it without further notice.
General Manager AWB National Pool Sarah Scales said in the event the 2002/03 pool does close, a "Number 2" pool will be opened to accept any further deliveries.
"Growers need to be aware that given the recent market volatility and downward trend in US wheat futures, Estimated Pool Returns for a Number 2 pool would likely to be at significant discount to the Number 1 pool," Ms Scales said.
Growers do have the option of taking out a deferred delivery contract with AWB, which provides access to the Number 1 pool if it is closed, by contacting their regional office or the AWB Grower Service Centre on 1800 054 433.
