The acting General Manager National Pool, Mr David Johnson, has announced that the 2005-2006 National Pool will be extended to enable AWB to carefully manage supply throughout 2007 given the limited amount of low protein wheat and Australian Hard wheat available for key markets.
“Managing key markets in time of limited supply is essential to securing, developing and maintaining markets,” Mr Johnson said.
“It is also more equitable to keep the pool open rather than selling it forward to the 2006-2007 Pool given the smaller, drought affected size of the 2006-2007 Pool.
“AWB Limited will distribute approximately $450-$500 million to wheat growers for the 2005-2006 National Pool in April and a further payment is anticipated after 30 June 2007.
“As announced in January, the 2005-06 durum pool will need to be extended pending a reconciliation and finalisation of stock positions with bulk handling companies.”
Final details of pay grades will be available prior to the April distribution.
