The AWB 2007/08 National Pool has increased for the majority of the 2007/08 Estimated Pool Returns (EPRs) by between $12/t and $40/t following a rebound in US futures and international cash prices over the past week.
The 2007-2008 EPR for benchmark APW has increased $15 a tonne and is now $400 per tonne (FOB GST exclusive), the main grade of durum has increased $40/t and is now $600/t (FOB GST exclusive) and the main noodle wheat grade ASWN has increased by $12/t and is now $405/t.
There have been no changes to the 2006/07 National Pool EPRs.
AWB General Manager National Pool, David Johnson, said the 2007/08 deliveries into the Pool are on track and the current prices for the 2007/08 National Pool ensures the Pool remains a competitive marketing option for Australian wheat growers.
“As harvest is now complete in Central Queensland we have closed the Gladstone and Mackay port zones for deliveries to the 2007/08 Number 1 National Pool from 5pm today. However, as harvest is yet to be completed in southern Queensland, the Brisbane port zone will remain open for deliveries to the 2007/08 Number 1 National Pool.
“The Number 2 Pool EPRs in Central Queensland are of a lower value due to the anticipated world wheat price reduction when the next northern hemisphere harvest begins in mid to late July 2008.
“AWB has opened a Number 2 Pool in Queensland for the following grades APH, APHP, AH, AHP, AUH, APW, APWT, ASW, AGP, AUW and Feed. All EPRs for the Number 2 Pool are at a $30/t discount of those of the Number 1 Pool. This means APW is $370/t, while APH is $385/t,” Mr Johnson said.
Growers in all states need to be aware that as there is no guaranteed access dates associated with the 2007/08 National Pool and therefore the 2007/08 Number 1 National Pool may close without notice following the completion of harvest. This is to protect the financial equity of growers that deliver early to the Pool.
The next pool update is scheduled for Monday 3rd December 2007.
